I want to do only good films: Kareena

Kareena has set high standards for herself after winning the best actress STAR Screen award for 'Omkara', beating popular choice Kajol in 'Fanaa'.
The award has inspired Kareena to work harder. "Getting my first popular best actress award at the beginning of the year just elates me. I'm now getting the right scripts like Mani Ratnam's 'Lajjo'. Now, I want to do only good films. It's so easy just to be in big projects and get big money. I don't believe in that. I've to have a central part now," said Kareena.
What about the cameo in 'Don'?
"That one song is running in all the night clubs. All the college kids are dancing to it. I've one big hit to dance to." Kareena says Kajol, who lost the popular award to her, was genuinely happy for her.
"By chance Kajol was sitting right next to me when my name was announced. She was so genuinely pleased for me. Kajol along with my sister Karisma have always been my idols. Both have had their share of awards. Now, it's my turn.
"I've received critics' awards. But this is my first taste of popular awards since 'Refugee'. 'Omkara' has been a great experience for me. People still come to me on flights and the gym to tell me how much they liked me in 'Omkara'."
Everyone who counted were there at the awards to share her.
"Karisma was there and so was my mom and Shahid (Kapur). They were so happy for me. Shahid was nominated for 'Vivah'. But he was so happy when I won. I had gone only to perform. But I came back with an award."
She says she has tasted blood. "I want to win at every awards function this season." She got to perform with the legendary Helen.
"It was a great moment. Of course, I knew her from before. I'm a filmy kid, remember? Helen aunty has seen me from my childhood. The Moranis (film financiers and owners of event management company Cineyug) suggested I perform with Helen Aunty.
"They suggested I drive onto stage in a sports car with the 'Don' music playing. When the sports car came in I could hear everyone from my own fraternity cheering me.
"It felt good. Then I danced to my version of 'Yeh mera dil' in 'Don'. After that Helen aunty came in to dance to her own version of 'Yeh mera dil' from the old 'Don'." Kareena can't stop raving about Helen.
"She was so gracious. She was wondering why people were comparing her 'Don' with mine because times have changed. She said my dance was more dazzling and sexy. That was so sweet of her." Talk veers to Kareena's sister.
"Karisma is looking like a million bucks. When she went on stage at the awards event to give Hrithik the best actor award, a collective gasp went up in the audience. She's pencil slim. And so am I these days. I'm working really hard on staying slim." She is not going for any more holidays.
"Except one, for Shahid's birthday on February 25," she corrected herself. "Otherwise, I'm raring to get back to work. I've put on my running shoes."

Legendary Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan said in an interview broadcast on Saturday he considers his future daughter-in-law, leading actress Aishwarya Rai, "domesticated" and a "simple girl". Asked what it was that impressed him about Rai, Bachchan said: "I think she's a lot simpler than what is made out of her. She's a very simple girl, very traditional. She's also very domesticated." Former Miss World Aishwarya and Bachchan's son, Abhishek got engaged earlier this month, putting an end to feverish speculation about their hush-hush romance. TV channels and newspapers have said the marriage --Bollywood's biggest for years -- was likely to take place as early as next month, with some suggesting February 19 or March 7 as possible dates.

Will Abhishek Bachchan be moving to 85, Naivedya, a swanky bungalow at Carter Road? This bungalow, just three blocks away from the newly acquired property by Salman Khan, was reportedly bought by Amitabh Bachchan just before his son's engagement to Karisma Kapoor, and was to be presented to the couple as a wedding gift. Unfortunately, they broke up. However construction of the bungalow has been going on since then. Shiv Gupta, who works as a security guard just two blocks away, confirmed that the bungalow belonged to Abhishek. When asked if he was happy to hear about the actor's engagement with Aishwarya Rai, Gupta said, "First I had heard he was going to marry Karisma Kapoor; now I read in the papers about Aishwarya Rai. I hope he gets married to her." However, two security guards outside Naivedya refused to comment and even denied that the house belonged to Abhishek. Another resident who lives close by said, "Even I heard that it belongs to Abhishek Bachchan and that Salman Khan has a house three blocks away. But when I asked the watchman, he told me the house belonged to a relative of the Bachchans and someone from a multinational company may move in."

Abhishek, Aishwarya seek blessings at Vindhyavasini

The most-talked about Bollywood couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai on Friday sought blessings of the deity at the famous Vindhyavasini Temple here, making their first public appearance together after their engagement. The Bachchan family led by Amitabh Bachchan, which arrived here to participate in the 51st birthday celebrations of Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh, offered prayers at the temple of Maa Bhagwati, seeking her blessings in the run-up to the Abhishek-Aishwarya wedding. In what is being seen as a pre-nuptial ceremony, Abhishek and Aishwarya performed 'parikarama' (circumambulation) of the deity and also performed the 'Bhagwati Pooja'. The two were alone in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and they accepted the 'kumkum' given to them as 'prasad'. Abhishek applied 'kumkum' on Aishwarya's forehead and also applied some on his own forehead. The two also offered a gold 'chhatra' (umbrella), nose ring and anklets during the 'pooja' in which besides the Bachchan family, Amar Singh and his wife Pankaja Kumari Singh were present ahead of a function in which 51 couples were united in wedlock on the occasion of Singh's 51st birthday. One of the 51 couples was also introduced to Amitabh and Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav by Amar Singh. Amitabh also performed 'kanya daan' at the function. The priests who conducted the 'pooja' said with these prayers the 'mangal dosh', said to be afflicting Aishwarya and not considered good for the in-laws, has been removed. On Friday, Amitabh in an interview to a TV channel had described reports about the 'mangal dosh' (defect) as "speculation".

Don't worry Shilpa

Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty's mother flew into London to wait for her daughter's exit from the Celebrity Big Brother house. Sunanda Shetty, 57, was flanked by two security guards as she left Heathrow Airport just before 7 pm on Tuesday. The Bollywood star's mother refused to answer questions on whether Channel 4 bosses should be axed in the racism scandal. Meanwhile, Jade Goody, the foul-mouthed tormentor of Shilpa Shetty has been dumped by Living TV - as fellow bully Danielle Lloyd lost another six-figure modelling contract. The channel has made three series with shamed star Jade in the past two years. But on Wednesday, Living TV confirmed the end of the deal worth about 100,000 pounds - hitting Jade's hopes of a comeback. The station said: “There's nothing in development or in the pipeline, we've no plans to work with Jade at present.” In 2005, Jade starred in Living TV 's Jade's Salon, which followed her as she set up a beauty parlour in Hertford. Disgraced Miss Great Britain Danielle has been ditched as the face of Rocawear and loses a chance to follow in the footsteps of Victoria Beckham and Naomi Campbell.
